Deepwater Horizon on DVD

Inspired by a true story, the tragic drama Deepwater Horizon is now available on DVD. Known as the worst oil spill in the history of the United States it is hard to forget the news images that plastered every single TV station and newspaper in those months following the accident. However, what most of us don’t remember are the people who were fighting for their lives on the Deepwater Horizon. Director Peter Berg takes us back to the oil rig and introduces us to the heroes of that fateful day in 2010.

Mark Wahlberg (as Mike Williams) and Kurt Russell (as Jimmy Harrell) lead the crew that head out to the rig amidst an untimely visit from corporate execs. With pressure to prematurely test the drilling pipe, even as everything else on the rig seems to be falling apart, money trumps safety and unfortunately an explosion tears the rig apart. Stuck in the middle of the ocean, with help still miles away, the crew have to abandon the rig. However, some of the crew choose to remain at their post and try to keep the disaster from getting even worse. Others risk their lives going back inside the burning interior to attempt to rescue the injured. Knowing that the lifeboats won’t be able to wait for them these brave heroes continue to secure the rig as much as possible until the last chance for evacuation.

Rated PG-13 for prolonged intense disaster sequences and related disturbing images. Deepwater Horizon is now available on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD. Blu-ray special features include the 5 part series Captain of the Rig.

It's been four decades since I first discovered a passion for movies. One momentous evening in 1977 my sister and brother introduced me to Star Wars and it forever changed my life. I relocated to Los Angeles after receiving a BA in Theatre and lived in the San Fernando valley for nineteen years. Besides acting and writing, I enjoy movies, music, theatre, relaxing at the beach or in the mountains, mastering racing games, traveling around the world, and hoarding chapstick. My husband and I are currently readjusting to life back in the States after spending three years living in Shanghai, China.
