Lea Michelle, Chris Colfer, and Cory Monteith Have One More Season On “Glee”

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Glee show-runner Ryan Murphy detailed plans for several of the show’s stars to “graduate” at the end of the upcoming third season:

“You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year.”

Murphy went on to explain that while some of the cast would remain, “more characters are leaving than are staying.” The entire list of seniors will be revealed during the season three premier on September 20th, but the definite characters are Rachel, Finn, and Kurt.

The show will most likely phase in new characters during the next season, premiering a new glee club for season four. Even though the show has lost it’s share of critical praise this past season (I stopped watching mid-season, myself) the Gleeks are still many, ratings have held steady, and the show is poised to get an Emmy nomination for Best Comedy this Thursday. if the numbers stay solid, we can all expect those Glee covers to keep showing up on our iTunes storefront for many years to come.
