‘De Gaulle: Resistance’ and ‘De Gaulle: Liberty’ 2 Part Biographical War Drama Stars Simon Abkarian – Trailer and Release Date

Directed by Antonin Baudry, the film ‘De Gaulle – Part I: Resistance’ centers on June 1940, as France collapses and signs the armistice with Nazi Germany. Alone against the odds and without an army or political backing, the relatively unknown General Charles de Gaulle flees to London. He refuses to accept defeat, broadcasts the Appeal of 18 June, and works to build Free France, rally resistance fighters, students, and soldiers in England, France, and Africa, while navigating tense alliances with Winston Churchill and others amid setbacks like Mers-el-Kébir and early colonial campaigns.

‘De Gaulle – Part I: Resistance’ stars Simon Abkarian (as Charles de Gaulle), Simon Russell Beale (as Winston Churchill), Florian Lesieur (as Fernand Bonnier de la Chapelle), Benoît Magimel (as Pierre Koenig), Niels Schneider (as Philippe Leclerc), Anamaria Vartolomei (as Livia), Loïc Corbery (as René Pleven), Karim Leklou (as Blazej), Mathieu Kassovitz (as Amiral François Darlan), and Campbell Scott (as Franklin D. Roosevelt).

Directed by Antonin Baudry, the film ‘De Gaulle – Part II: Liberty’ centers on the period after the Free French victory at Bir Hakeim. De Gaulle works to unify the fragmented Resistance under Jean Moulin, navigates diplomatic clashes with Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Allies over the future of liberated France, contends with rivals such as Henri Giraud, and follows parallel threads of military campaigns (including Leclerc’s forces) and underground resistance leading toward the Liberation of Paris.
