‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ Dystopian Action Film Features Ensemble Cast – Trailer and Release Date

Directed by Francis Lawrence, the dystopian action film ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping‘ will revisit the world of Panem 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell.

‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ stars include:

    • Maya Hawke as Wiress, a Mentor
    • Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, District 12 resident
    • Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee Latier, as a Mentor

Screenplay adaptation by Billy Ray, based on the novel by Suzanne Collins, ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ is produced by Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, and Francis Lawrence. Production company is Color Force.

The film’s cinematography is by Jo Willems, music by James Newton Howard, and editing by Mark Yoshikawa.

Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson reprise their roles as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark. Lionsgate will release ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ in theaters and IMAX in the United States and Canada on November 20, 2026.
