Directed by Chee Keong Cheung, the action thriller film ‘Son of the Soil’ centers on Zion Ladejo, a former Nigerian Special Ops Paratrooper, who lives in quiet exile overseas, haunted by the ghosts of a catastrophic mission that went horribly wrong. Wracked by guilt from the trauma of his past, Zion is a man adrift, disconnected from his homeland, his purpose, and himself.
After receiving news of his sister’s untimely death, Zion returns to Nigeria. Upon his return he finds a community in ruins, ravaged by a devastating drug epidemic and held hostage by a network of powerful drug dealers.
Fueled by grief and a burning need for justice, Zion launches a campaign of violence against the criminal empire poisoning his hometown. As he delves deeper into the underworld, old instincts reignite. With the focus of a soldier and fury of a grieving brother, he takes on a system riddled in corruption and violence. As the body count rises, so do the stakes, as Zion now turns to former brother in arms turned street soldier, Jagunlabi, to help him rally an army to confront not only the men who killed his sister, but those that continue to import narcotics and poison the Lagos streets.
