Written and directed by Mike Leigh, the comedy-drama film ‘Tender Loving Care’ centers on Amy, a government child protection worker who, after a failed relationship, moves back in with her upbeat best friend Rosie, a social services officer facing daily anger and resentment. As the demands of work and family begin to converge, Amy and those closest to her, including her aging parents who worry about her happiness while dealing with their own crisis, discover the strength found in compassion, community, and one another. Set in post-Brexit England, it is a richly observed portrait of resilience, humor, and the enduring power of human connection.
