Aaron Dalla Villa Reveals His Character And His Experience Working On The Film ‘Concessions’

‘Concessions’ is a comedy drama feature film written and directed by Mas Bouzidi. The story tells how as the Royal Alamo Cinema closes its doors for good; jaded staff, eccentric patrons, and an unhinged manager stumble through one last night at the movies — grappling with busted dreams, bad popcorn, and hard goodbyes.

The film stars Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill) as Rex Fuel, Steven Ogg (The Walking Dead, Grand Theft Auto V.) as Luke Plimpton, and Josh Hamilton (Eighth Grade) as Dingo Dan. Additionally, Aaron Dalla Villa (The Wrath of Becky, The Plastic Man) plays the role of Russell Wilkie. I was curious to see what his role was about, how his experience was working on this film, and what his favorite theater moment was. Watch the film’s trailer below and read on to see Aaron’s answers…

Wendy Shepherd: How did you get involved with the ‘Concessions’ film by Mas Bouzidi? What was it like working with Mas?

Aaron Dalla Villa: I got the audition through my agent. Mas was so lovely to work with. He knew exactly what he wanted.

Wendy: What interested you the most about the story?

Aaron: I’ve always loved going to the movies. It’s the nostalgia that drew me in.

Wendy: Who is your character and what is his significance in the story?

Aaron: I play Russell Wilkie. He does some questionable things. He further adds to the chaos of the last day of the Royal Alamo Cinema.

Wendy: Which actors did you star with? How was that experience? How was the vibe on set?

Aaron: I worked opposite Steven Ogg and was in the same scene with Michael Madsen. Never got to work with Michael but working with Steven was great. Just a pro. The vibe on set was nice and everyone wanted a great film.

Wendy: Have you ever worked at a movie theater?

Aaron: I have not.

Wendy: Do you have a favorite moment from watching a film in a movie theater in your past?

Aaron: The first time I saw AVATAR in theaters. That was pretty life changing for me.

Wendy: What would you do if a local movie theater you frequented were to shut down?

Aaron: I’d reach out and check on the owner/friend. I’d get involved somehow if there was some kind of petition to save the theater. The communal experience is so vital, especially these days.

Wendy: Thank you Aaron!
