Michael Rooker Supports Award Winning Documentary about A Comedian : “Dying to do Letterman”

Michael Rooker has the image of one of the toughest guys around. Let’s face it, he looks like he could break you in half solely by glaring at you a little. Thank God that first impression is not true. A genuinely nice guy at heart, Rooker has been involved in various projects that show off his soft side. No, I’m not talking about his part in shows such as The Walking Dead, but of his involvement in the “Dying to do Letterman” project.

For those who aren’t aware of what this project is all about, here is a quick synopsis. Steve Mazan is a 35 year old comedian who upon discovering that he has cancer has decided not to lay down and die, but rather fulfill a dream of his, that of performing his comedic routine on The Late Show with David Letterman. All nice and well, but it’s not as easy as it might seem. Steve has transformed his journey into a documentary of his adventures and mis-adventures for the past five years.

Michael has been a supporter of this attempt for quite a while now and he’s shown that support by tweeting frequently about this documentary that proves Mazan’s words: you’re supposed to “Live your dream, or die trying. Can you think of a better way to spend the rest of your life? ” Not just a supporter for the sake of dream chasing, Michael has stated that he is in it to “kick cancer’s ass.” Quite a noble goal, Michael, quite a noble goal.

I’ll go off on a bit of tangent here and say that it’s quite an inspiration and probably I would’ve never found out about this project had it been not for Rooker’s constant attempts at getting attention for his friend’s movie. I wonder if he was in it also to get us to pay attention to the things that we’re dying to do.

If you’re interested in finding out more about it check out here http://www.dyingtodoletterman.com/ or wait until the movie is finally released, though that might take a while. Until then, let’s heed all the warnings that we’re getting – life is fleeting, let’s make the best of it.
