Review ----- The Proposal
Nov 2, 2009, 20:06
Posted By Michael

I found another "keeper" this weekend to add to my DVD collection, filed under "Romantic Comedies". It ranks right up there with such titles as You've Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle and Ghost Town in my book. The movie is The Proposal starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.

Sandra plays Margaret, a high powered executive in a Publishing company who is very successful yet universally hated by all who work for her. Ryan Reynolds plays her assistant, Andrew who tends to her every need yet has his own dreams of being an Editor and getting his book published.

The plot thickens when Margaret is told she is about to be deported back to Canada and lose everything... She quickly cooks up a story that she is engaged to Andrew and will soon be married and retain Citizenship.

She uses her position over Andrew to force him to go along with her bogus story, however an immigration agent has been tipped off about their scheme and wants to put them through a rigorous interview process to see how much they really know about one another.

So off they go to meet Andrew's Family in Alaska and attempt to convince all involved that they are the perfect couple. The laughs really start rolling at this point and I really enjoyed the chemistry between Bullock and Reynolds, they do a wonderful job with their characters.

I'd definitely recommend this movie... it's one of those flicks that brings a smile to your face and makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. It even has an alternate ending... although I like the one they chose for the main release much better.
