New “Avengers” Pic Offers A Good Look At The New Hulk

While Captain America may be my favorite film out of the Marvel crop, the Hulk is by far my favorite character. So it gives me great pleasure to check out the new and improved smashy-green giant in this new pic from Avengers:

SMASH!

Sure, we’ve seen some concept art and we’ve even seen the big guy move and jump and clobber in the trailers, but this is the first still that features the Hulk’s face that also shows off the mo-cap work Mark Ruffalo did to play the beast.

Ruffalo is the first actor to play both Bruce Banner and the Hulk on set of a feature film, and I’m really excited to see what the guy can pull off with both sides of the coin. He’s one of my favorite actors working today, and it’s a real treat to see him jump from indie fare like The Kids Are All Right to prestige pics like Zodiac and onward to big budget tent-poles like this.

The Avengers assemble into theaters on May 4th, 2012.
