Director Brian De Palma
Planning Another Film About Iraq War

Legendary writer/director Brian De Palma recently made known his intentions to create another film on the Iraq war, in spite of the controversy that has met his recent wartime film 'Redacted'.

MOVIE GEEKS UNITED!, a movie-themed talk radio program available for free on the internet and iTunes, received the scoop from De Palma during a live podcast event on Wednesday, November 7.

"I have a lot more feelings about what's going on in this war," De Palma stated when asked of his plans to return to the High Definition video format. "I did complete a script tentatively entitled 'Shoot the Messenger'. I'm very interested in dealing with the sort of George Orwell take on this war and showing how things are reedited and myths are created and all the spinning that went on to sell this war. I have a lot of thoughts about using this digital form to do it."

De Palma's current motion picture 'Redacted' opens in limited release on Friday, November 16 under a heavy veil of robust debate and heated controversy.

As for 'Capone Rising', the long-gestating prequel to his 1987 smash hit 'The Untouchables', De Palma was skeptical of it's immediate future.

"We are still trying to cast this," he said. "We've had this together with a bunch of different actors over the last couple of years and things keep on falling in and out. I don't know if it's going to pull itself together soon enough for me to shoot next year, because I have to shoot it in the wintertime because there's a Valentine's Day massacre that's gotta be done in the cold in February. If we don't get it together in the next month or so, I'm going to go off and do something else."

The episode of the popular internet podcast (which is currently available for replay) also featured interviews with four of the principal stars of De Palma's 'Redacted', including Ty Jones, Izzy Diaz, Rob Devaney and Patrick Carroll.
