'Good Night', a 29-minute short film directed by Indian director Geetika Narang has won yet another award. At the recently concluded 4th India International Women Film Festival (IIWFF) in New Delhi, the film won the Best Short Film Award.
The award comes close on the heels of the Silver Lamp Tree award for the Second Best Film won by 'Good Night' at the prestigious International Film Festival of India (IFFI), held in Goa in early December, 2008. Previously the film's Director of Photography Yasir Abbasi had won the Best Cinematography Award for the film at the Fulmarxx Shorts Fest at Ahmedabad, India in April, 2008.

'Good Night' is the story of Madan Mohan Khullar, a lover of old Hindi films and music, who has decided to start his life afresh. Director Geetika Narang, who makes her debut with the film, has handled the subject with great sensitivity and finesse. She has touched upon themes of old-age and loneliness with such tremendous maturity that it is hard to believe that it is her first film. The film features veteran actor Vinod Nagpal in the central role of Khullar and he lends the character a lot of depth with his multi-layered performance. The film is technically proficient with some remarkable cinematography by Yasir Abbasi. The compositions and the lighting beautifully capture the mood of the story.

With the film already having won accolades all over, director Geetika Narang has a lot of expectations to live up to. If her next film is anywhere close to the potential she has shown with 'Good Night', we have a real talent on the horizon.
